Coimbatore: On August 12, the District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar and District Revenue Officer M. Sharmila felicitated Dr. G. Barath Kumar from Annur for securing the all-India ninth rank in NEET PG 2025.

Sharing his success story, Dr. Barath Kumar said that he views NEET not as a competition but as an opportunity to progress. “I had secured a rank above 3,000 in UG NEET and got admission under the government quota. After completing my internship in 2024, I attempted NEET PG for the first time in August and secured the 6,947th rank, which was not sufficient for medicine. Later, in the INI-CET exam held in November, I secured 1,357th rank, but the seats were mostly filled by top-ranked candidates. It was in the next six months that I devoted myself fully to preparation, which helped me achieve this result,” he said.
Dr. Barath also highlighted the need for government-run PG NEET coaching centres, stating that such facilities would help many economically weaker students continue their education beyond UG and pursue specialisations.
District’s Pride
Praising the achievement, Collector Giriyappanavar said, “This is a proud moment for Coimbatore district. Going forward, we will encourage more students to pursue postgraduate studies and will also provide free PG NEET coaching facilities to them.”
