Hyderabad: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted approval for 75 additional postgraduate (PG) medical seats in seven government medical colleges of Telangana for the academic year 2025–26.
With this addition, the total number of PG medical seats in Telangana’s government medical colleges has increased from 1,191 to 1,266, marking another step towards strengthening the state’s postgraduate medical education system.
Colleges Getting Additional PG Seats
The 75 new PG medical seats have been allotted to the following government institutions:
- Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad
 - Government Medical College, Nizamabad
 - Government Medical College, Mahbubnagar
 - Government Medical College, Siddipet
 - Government Medical College, Suryapet
 - Government Medical College, Nalgonda
 - SIMS Ramagundam
 
These seats cover a wide range of specialities, including:
- Hospital Administration
 - Paediatrics
 - Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy (DVL)
 - ENT
 - Orthopaedics
 - Anaesthesia
 - Pathology
 - Respiratory Medicine
 - Biochemistry
 - Emergency Medicine
 - Obstetrics & Gynaecology

According to the Telangana Health Department, these additional seats were approved following infrastructure enhancement and the expansion of academic capabilities in state-run medical colleges.
The move aims to:
