NEET PG: In a significant relief for postgraduate medical aspirants, the Hind Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Sitapur, has announced a reduction in annual tuition fees for some postgraduate (MD) courses for the academic session 2025-26. The decision has been formally communicated to the Director General, Medical Education & Training (DGMET), Uttar Pradesh.
According to the official communication issued by the institute, the revised fee structure applies to MD Biochemistry, MD Microbiology, and MD Pathology courses. The move is expected to ease the financial burden on students seeking admission through the state counselling process.
Revised PG Tuition Fee Structure
As per the letter, the tuition fees earlier fixed by the Uttar Pradesh government have been substantially reduced:
| S. No. | PG Course | Annual Tuition Fee (Fixed by UP govt.) | Revised Annual Tuition Fee (2025-26) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | MD Biochemistry | ₹9,84,431 | Nil |
| 2 | MD Microbiology | ₹9,84,431 | Nil |
| 3 | MD Pathology | ₹13,18,768 | ₹5,00,000 |
The institute has requested the authorities to update the revised fee details on the DGME portal and issue necessary instructions to the nodal centers so that candidates are informed before reporting for admission.
Relief for PG Medical Aspirants
The reduction comes at a time when postgraduate medical education costs have been a major concern for students, particularly in private medical colleges. Waiving tuition fees entirely for two MD courses and sharply reducing fees for another is being seen as a student-friendly step that could increase interest in these clinical and para-clinical specialties.
Experts believe that such measures may also help address the shortage of specialists in core diagnostic fields like pathology and microbiology, which play a crucial role in healthcare delivery.
Next Steps for Candidates
Once the revised fees are officially uploaded on the DGME portal, candidates allotted seats in these courses during counselling will be required to pay the updated amount at the time of reporting to the institute.
Students are advised to keep a close watch on official counselling notifications and portal updates to avoid confusion during the admission process.
