Key Rules From the Information Bulletin
- State Quota: Candidates who passed MBBS from West Bengal and in-service candidates of the state can claim State Quota seats. Other service category candidates can claim them if they passed MBBS from West Bengal.
- In-service reservation: 40% of State Quota degree seats and 50% of diploma seats are reserved for in-service teachers and medical officers of the state Health Department. Five percent of State Quota seats go to benchmark PwD candidates.
- Private Management Quota: Indian nationals qualified in NEET PG 2026 can apply irrespective of the state where they passed MBBS. There is no reservation in these seats, and allotment follows combined rank.
- NRI Quota: Candidates who choose the NRI Quota cannot opt for State or Management Quota, and the reverse also applies. NRI documents are provisional and are sent to MCC for embassy verification.
- Certificates: Caste certificates must be issued in West Bengal for reserved State Quota seats. OBC (non-creamy layer) and EWS certificates must be issued on or after April 1, 2026 in the prescribed format.
- Bond and penalty: Discontinuing a course attracts a penalty of ₹5 lakh for degree seats and ₹2 lakh for diploma seats. Open category candidates must serve a bond of 3 years (degree) or 2 years (diploma) with the state government after completing the course.
- Open category candidates pursuing another course: They are eligible only if that course, and its bond if any, ends by September 30, 2026.
- Seat surrender: Allowed in Round 1 without penalty. In Round 2 it is allowed with forfeiture of admission fees. No surrender is allowed from Round 3 onwards.
- DNB Post Diploma: The 2-year DNB Post Diploma seats are not part of this counselling.
