The verification of the tentative seat matrix for NEET PG 2026 Round 1 counselling begins on October 10. Participating medical colleges must complete it by October 12. What Is Seat Matrix Verification?

The seat matrix is the list of postgraduate seats available in each participating college. A tentative version is issued first, and colleges then check it against their approved intake.

During verification, colleges check:

• College code and name
• Total number of seats
• Category-wise distribution of seats (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS and others)
• Courses offered (MD, MS, PG Diploma and DNB)
• Fee structure

If a college finds a mismatch, it must report the error and request a correction before the deadline. After the corrections are approved, the final seat matrix is locked and published for candidates.

What It Means for Candidates

• The verified seat matrix is the reference for choice filling, which opens on October 13
• A college that does not report errors by October 12 will have its draft matrix locked as it is, so seat numbers may be inaccurate
• Candidates should check the final matrix for seats in their own category before locking choices
• The seat matrix will be updated after Round 1, so candidates must check it again before filling choices in Round 2

• Keep the NEET PG 2026 admit card, scorecard and identity proof ready
• Check that the email address and phone number in the application are correct, as counselling updates are sent there
• Complete registration and fee payment well before the October 21 deadline to avoid technical problems
