The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has clarified how Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD/PwD) candidates should handle their grievances in NEET PG counselling 2026. In a notice dated October 15, 2026, MCC said it cannot interpret, relax or change the PwD rules, and that candidates with doubts or complaints should approach the National Medical Commission (NMC) directly.
MCC PwD Grievances PG Counselling 2026: What the Notice Says
MCC, which works under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said it acts only as the executive agency for conducting counselling and admission to PG medical seats. The rules for PwD candidates are made by the NMC under the Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. These rules cover:
- Disability categories
- Minimum and maximum degree of disability
- Suitability for the course
- Eligibility criteria for PwD candidates
MCC said it implements these provisions as notified and has no authority to interpret, relax or modify them.
Who Should Contact NMC?
Candidates who have a grievance or doubt about the PwD rules and guidelines, or who need clarification on them, can approach the NMC directly to resolve it. MCC will carry out counselling and allotment according to the rules and guidelines notified by the NMC and any directions of the competent courts.
