New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India today delivered its latest order on the ongoing plea regarding transparency in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test- Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025. The court has directed the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to address the raised concerns within two weeks.
The matter has faced multiple adjournments throughout September 2025. During today’s hearing, the bench questioned why only a limited number of candidates had approached the court, despite nearly two lakh aspirants appearing for the postgraduate medical entrance test.
Background of the Dispute
The controversy stems from an official notice issued by NBEMS on August 21, 2025, regarding the publication of the NEET PG 2025 answer key. The notice clarified that since both the sequence of questions and the order of answer options vary for each candidate, the answer key and responses would be displayed according to a “Master Set” of the question paper.
However, petitioners argued that this corrective notice undermines transparency. They stressed that publishing individual answer keys and responses is essential for candidates to verify their answers, identify discrepancies, and file valid objections if required.
According to the plea, ensuring access to answer keys is crucial for maintaining fairness and credibility in the evaluation process of a national-level exam that directly impacts medical careers.
What’s Next
With the Supreme Court setting a two-week deadline, NBEMS is now expected to provide a clear resolution to the transparency issues flagged by aspirants. The outcome will be closely monitored by thousands of NEET PG 2025 candidates awaiting clarity on the evaluation process.
