Telangana HRDA Demands Local Quota in PG Medical Seats 2025

HRDA urges Telangana govt. to reserve PG medical seats for local MBBS graduates, citing Andhra Pradesh’s 85% quota model.

Hyderabad, September 30, 2025: The Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA), Telangana, has urged the state government to introduce local reservation in MQ1 (B-category) NEET PG medical seats in private colleges across Telangana.

Key Points

  • HRDA demands local quota in MQ1 (B-category) PG seats in private medical colleges.
  • Currently, these seats are open nationwide under GO 40 & 42.
  • Telangana MBBS graduates are losing out on fair chances for PG studies.
  • Andhra Pradesh reserves 85% of MQ1 PG seats for locals under GO 102.
  • HRDA urges Telangana govt. and KNRUHS to implement a similar quota system.

At present, these MQ1 seats are open to candidates from all over India under Government Orders (GO) 40 and 42. According to HRDA, this system puts Telangana’s own MBBS graduates at a disadvantage, even though they have consistently contributed to the state’s healthcare sector.

Dr. Bandari Rajkumar, senior HRDA member, said that many local medical graduates are losing fair chances to pursue postgraduate studies. He pointed out that Andhra Pradesh already reserves 85% of MQ1 PG seats for local candidates through GO 102, ensuring better opportunities for its own students.

He appealed to the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) and the Telangana government to adopt a similar policy immediately to safeguard the interests of local students and strengthen the state’s healthcare system.
