The Nagaland NEET PG Seat Matrix 2026 is the list of postgraduate medical seats (MD, MS, PG Diploma, and DM/MCh) that Nagaland candidates can target through NEET PG counselling. Here is the most important point first: Nagaland has no medical college offering MD/MS courses. Its only medical college, Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR), Kohima, runs MBBS only, so the state has no PG seat matrix of its own. Nagaland candidates instead get a small number of sponsored seats at RIMS Imphal, Manipur, nominated by the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare (DHFW), Nagaland, and compete for the 50% All India Quota and deemed university seats through MCC. NMC released the national PG seat matrix for 2026-27 on September 29, 2026. Read this guide before choice filling so you can shortlist seats with a realistic plan:

About NIMSR Kohima
NIMSR, popularly called Kohima Medical College, is the state’s first medical college. NMC gave the Letter of Permission for 100 MBBS seats in April 2023, and the first batch joined in September 2023. It is affiliated with Nagaland University and uses Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima, as its teaching hospital. Because the college is new, PG courses are limited, so check each branch in the NMC matrix before shortlisting.
Nagaland NEET PG Reservation Categories
Nagaland has no state-quota PG counselling, so there is no separate state reservation matrix. The categories that apply to you are those of the MCC AIQ seats and the sponsorship rules notified by DHFW Nagaland:
| Category | Full Form / Description |
|---|---|
| UR / General | Unreserved |
| EWS | Economically Weaker Sections (10%) |
| OBC-NCL | Other Backward Classes, Non-Creamy Layer (27%) |
| SC | Scheduled Caste (15%) |
| ST | Scheduled Tribe (7.5%) |
| PwBD | Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (5% horizontal) |
| Sponsored | In-service doctors nominated by DHFW Nagaland (RIMS Imphal seats) |
| Open (RIMS) | Graduates of RIMS Imphal only |
AIQ vs State Quota Seat Split
For a Nagaland candidate, the seat pool is split like this:
- 50% All India Quota (AIQ): Filled by MCC from the NEET PG All India merit list. Nagaland candidates compete like candidates from any other state in government colleges across India.
- Deemed, central university, and ESIC/AFMS seats: Also counselled by MCC. Cutoffs and fees vary widely, so check the deemed universities’ fee structure and deemed cutoff pages.
- Sponsored seats at RIMS Imphal: A handful of seats allotted through DHFW Nagaland nomination and RIMS counselling. Read more in the Nagaland NEET PG Merit List guide.
- Other states’ state quota: Nagaland domicile does not count in another state’s state quota, so you can apply there only if you meet that state’s own eligibility. See the state-wise counselling guides for rules.
