Why Goa Cutoffs Change So Much Every Year
- Very few seats: Goa has a single government college, so a change of one or two seats in a branch can move the closing rank sharply.
- Small eligible pool: domicile and eligibility rules limit the state quota to fewer candidates.
- Paper difficulty: a tougher NEET PG paper changes scores and ranks for the same branch.
- Reservation split: the spread of seats across General, OBC, SC and ST changes the category closing ranks.
- Seats left after MCC rounds: vacancies and resignations in MCC Rounds 1 and 2 reach later state rounds and can push the closing rank higher.
- Choice patterns: many candidates chasing the same few branches raise competition for those seats.
Factors Affecting Goa NEET PG Cutoff 2026
Several factors decide how high or low the closing rank goes in Goa:
- Number of seats: Goa has a single government college, so a change of one or two seats in a branch can shift the closing rank sharply.
- Number of eligible candidates: Domicile rules limit the state quota to a smaller pool of candidates.
- Difficulty level of NEET PG 2026: A tougher paper lowers scores and moves ranks, which changes the cutoff marks for each branch.
- Category-wise reservation: Seat distribution among General, OBC, SC and ST affects the category closing ranks.
- Previous year trends: Branches such as MS Orthopaedics, Radiology and Medicine saw their General closing ranks rise in 2025.
- Seat vacancies and resignations: Seats left after MCC Rounds 1 and 2 reach later state rounds, which can push the closing rank higher.
- Choice filling pattern: Candidates choosing the same few branches increase competition for those seats.
How to Calculate NEET PG Cutoff 2026
NBEMS decides the NEET PG cutoff as a percentile of the candidates who appeared. A little over 2.65 lakh candidates appeared for NEET PG 2026. The percentile is calculated as follows:
Percentile = (Number of candidates who scored lower than you ÷ Total number of candidates who appeared) × 100
For General/EWS candidates, the 50th percentile is converted into the cutoff score of 262 out of 720. In the same way, the 45th percentile gives 244 for General PwBD and the 40th percentile gives 226 for SC/ST/OBC candidates. The branch-wise Goa cutoff is not a percentile. It is the rank of the last candidate who received a seat in that branch.
Previous Year NEET PG Qualifying Cutoff
| Year | General / EWS | General PwBD | SC / ST / OBC | Total Marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 262 | 244 | 226 | 720 |
| 2025 | 276 | 255 | 235 | 800 |
| 2024 | 291 | 274 | 257 | 800 |
| 2023 | 291 | 274 | 257 | 800 |
| 2022 | 275 | 260 | 245 | 800 |
How to Use the Goa NEET PG Cutoff

- Note your NEET PG 2026 All India Rank and your category.
- Find your category column in the closing rank tables above.
- Shortlist branches whose 2025 closing rank is higher (numerically larger) than your rank, as these are likely to be within reach.

- Arrange your choices in order of preference, starting with the branch you want most.
- Keep an eye on MCC and DTE Goa notices for the round-wise allotment and joining dates.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Treating the 2025 closing rank as a guarantee for 2026.

- Assuming state quota seats are open to all candidates.
- Not checking stipend and bond conditions before locking choices.
