The All India Quota (AIQ) NEET PG 2025 counselling schedule has not yet been released by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), however on August 19, 2025 the National Eligibility Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025 results were released.
NEET PG 2025 Counselling is Delayed
According to reports, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has requested that MCC wait until all regulatory permissions have been completed. As a result, the MCC has been unable to release the final seat matrix or initiate the online registration process for postgraduate medical admissions.
Reason for the Delay
Officials from the Tamil Nadu State Selection Committee explained that the delay is primarily due to two reasons:
- The NMC is finalizing the approval of several new medical colleges, and
- The commission is increasing MD/MS seat capacity in existing institutions for the upcoming 2025-26 academic session.
Sources in the Directorate of Medical Education have clarified that counselling cannot start until the NMC officially releases the updated seat matrix for all states and colleges.

Apart from the regulatory delays, several legal issues have further complicated the process. A number of Supreme Court cases have affected the NMC, including petitions calling for the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to be more transparent about the NEET PG question paper and answer key distribution.
The counseling schedule has been indefinitely postponed due to these ongoing legal proceedings as well as administrative processes.

States Begin Preparations
A few states, like Tamil Nadu, have already begun to receive applications for private medical institutions and state quota seats despite the nationwide backlog.

Final admissions, however, won’t happen until the MCC issues its formal notification. Numerous contenders have voiced their dissatisfaction and anxiety over the ongoing ambiguity.

Experts warn that if the situation continues, the academic calendar for 2025-26 could face major disruptions, impacting both students and medical institutions nationwide.
