Odisha NEET PG Counselling Rounds and Seat Quota

Admissions are made online through DMET, not at the college:

• Rounds: Round 1, Round 2 (with upgradation), Mop-Up round and Stray Vacancy round. This guide uses “Stray Vacancy round” for the final stage, so one name is used throughout.
• State quota: 50% of government college PG seats are filled by DMET Odisha. The other 50% go to All India Quota counselling by MCC.
• Private seats: Some private medical college seats are also filled through the state process, as set out in the bulletin.
• In-service candidates: In-service seats and benefits, if any, apply as per the DMET notification.
• Stray Vacancy round: Earlier cycles ran this round at the college or convenor level, so read the notice for the mode.

Odisha NEET PG Eligibility and Domicile Criteria

Only candidates who qualified NEET PG 2026 and registered with DMET Odisha can take part:

• Qualify NEET PG 2026 by securing at least the minimum qualifying percentile for your category.
• Hold an MBBS degree from an NMC-recognised college, with internship completed and valid medical council registration.
• Register on the DMET portal within the notified window.
• Domicile and residence rules are set in the bulletin, and some competitor pages say that domicile is no longer required for state PG seats, so confirm this in the 2026 bulletin.

Report to the allotted college

Visit the college or the convenor within the stated time for document verification. Carry originals and photocopies.

Pay the admission fee

Pay the fee to confirm the seat. The amount depends on the institution, so use the fee notified for your college. Any security deposit already paid is handled as per DMET’s rules.

Join and attend orientation

Confirm the class start date and join on the day notified.

Seat surrender, upgrade and exit

Before you report, read the round-wise rules on upgrading to a better choice, surrendering a seat, and exiting counselling. Earlier cycles released an upgradation result against seats left vacant by candidates who did not report, and some choices can cost you the security deposit or bar you from later rounds.
