Factors Affecting Gujarat NEET PG Cutoff 2026
The Gujarat NEET PG cutoff may vary each year due to several factors:
- Number of candidates: Higher competition can increase the cutoff.
- Exam difficulty: An easier paper may lead to higher scores and changing closing ranks.
- Seat availability: An increase or decrease in MD/MS seats directly affects cutoffs. Seat additions during choice filling, such as the seat increase at C.U. Shah Medical College in 2025, can also change ranks.
- Category reservation: Cutoffs vary for Open, SEBC, EWS, SC, ST and PwBD candidates.
- Quota: The same branch closes at very different ranks in GQ, UQ, MQ, IQ and NRI quotas.
- Qualifying percentile: Any reduction in the qualifying percentile can widen closing ranks in later rounds.
- Fees, bond and stipend: College costs, bond rules and stipend amounts influence candidate preferences.
- Counselling participation: The number of candidates participating in each round affects seat movement and final closing ranks.

How to Calculate NEET PG Cutoff 2026
The qualifying cutoff is based on percentile, not on a percentage of the total marks. This is a common mistake.
Step 1: Know the exam pattern. NEET PG 2026 has 180 questions and 720 marks.
Step 2: Know the qualifying percentile.
| Category | Required Percentile |
| General / EWS | 50th |
| General PwBD | 45th |
| SC / ST / OBC | 40th |
Step 3: Understand how percentile works. Percentile shows the share of candidates who scored at or below you. The formula is:
Percentile = (Total candidates − Your rank) ÷ Total candidates × 100
For example, if 2,00,000 candidates appear (a made-up number for explanation), the candidate at rank 1,00,000 sits at the 50th percentile. That candidate’s marks become the General cutoff. For the 40th percentile, the marks of the candidate at rank 1,20,000 become the SC/ST/OBC cutoff.
Step 4: Remember that rank is decided by raw marks. Your All India Rank depends on your marks. Percentile is only used to check if you qualify.
Step 5: Compare previous year trends. The official cutoff changes each year based on competition and exam difficulty.
How to Use the Gujarat NEET PG Cutoff
- Note your All India Rank, category and quota. Rank matters more than marks, and your quota decides which column to read.
- Shortlist 8 to 10 branches you would genuinely accept.
- Match your rank with the branch-wise and quota-wise tables above and mark each option as safe, possible or a stretch.
- Check the quick estimate with the NEET PG college predictor and branch predictor.
- Compare the full cost of management and NRI seats: fee, stipend and bond.
- Prepare two lists: one for MCC and one for Gujarat state counselling, since the rules differ.
- Fill and lock your choices carefully.
