State Quota vs AIQ: How PG Seats Are Split

  • State Quota: The seat matrix in this article covers state quota seats only, released and allotted by WBMCC for candidates domiciled in or MBBS-qualified from West Bengal.
  • All India Quota (AIQ): 50% of seats in government medical colleges are contributed to the AIQ pool and allotted centrally by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), not WBMCC. These AIQ seats are not part of the state seat matrix shown above.
  • Private/Deemed College Seats: Private college seats in the state list are filled through WBMCC state counselling under applicable fee categories; some may also participate separately in AIQ or deemed-university counselling depending on their status.
